Spring 2012: Athletic Chic.
I love sportwear. Smart-but-casual pieces, lots of color, a bit of prep and some stripes thrown in for good measure.
It’s the perfect answer to spring weather– bright and fun, but practical. Items like the anorak serve a function, keeping you dry in a spring shower and warm in the early stages of the season.
Sportwear is chic for sure, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. Works almost everywhere, from the office to happy hour.
Take inventory of the following list, keeping in mind that any of these pieces pair well with your favorite pair of jeans (boot cut, skinny and boyfriend all mesh well).
1. Staring at Stars Colorblock anorak ($50)
2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Nylon Crossbody bag ($198)
3. MICHAEL Michael Kors Snap-Down anorak ($225)
4. JCrew Boardwalk tote ($40)
5. JCrew Colorblock Striped Boatneck tee ($45)
6. Marc by Marc Jacobs Rubber Turnlock bracelets ($28 each)
7. Keds ($40)
The anorak is a key piece to this trend. I love both of the options here- a classic khaki color (3) and a fun (and cheap!) bright coral version (1). Sporty stripes also play a big role– I love the classic + neon combo of this JCrew tee (5) and could see myself carrying this peach-striped tote just about everywhere (4).
Accessories help achieve the sportwear vibe. Grab a pair of Keds (7) and pair then with your cuffed chinos or skinny jeans (Converse Chucks and Vans also work, too). An armful of colorful bracelets (6) and a hot pink nylon messenger (2) are on the lust-list, as well.
