Can You Fall in Love with Leather Goods?
I have been hunting for the perfect lightweight leather jacket with an over-sized draped collar for ages and ages now. Something with a bit of slouch through the front and a touch cropped, but snug through the arms and shoulder. Above all, the leather needed to be super soft and buttery– absolutely no stiffness or anything too structured.
Look. What. I. Found.
There’s a bit of a back story to this jacket. On a shopping excursion last month (complete with champagne at lunch, so there’s that), I spotted this jacket’s olive green cousin on a mannequin at Nordstrom. I tried it on, fell in love, but couldn’t at the time justify shelling out the cash (no matter how beautiful and perfect and how incredible the jacket looked).
Cut to last weekend, when the Nordstrom holiday shopping event paired all the same players together: me, champagne, and the infamous leather jacket. Only this time, they had it in navy. NAVY. It was like fashion kismet.
My friend’s mother put it best, “Ashley, you’re not going to stop obsessing about this jacket until you buy it.”
What do you think? Is love at first sight possible with leather goods? I’m thinking yes. Be prepared to see this navy stunner constantly– I’ve hardly taken it off since I bought it!
